May I use the chat to promote my music?

No. There are a number of great ways to spread the word about new music on Indie Music Space but we ask that the chat not be one of them.

We have instituted a no out-of-context-plugging policy.

Put simply, this means that to plug a song, you must already be discussing something related to the song.

For example, if you are talking to another artist about a genre of music and have a song that illustrates your point, feel free to plug it. If you are looking for collaborators, ask people if they would be willing to contribute and, once they’ve expressed interest, you can link to a related song.

Please do not pop into chat just to announce that you have uploaded a new song. Everyone can see your song in the Latest Uploads list.

What else should I keep in mind when chatting?

Don’t overwhelm the chat, give others a chance to participate in the discussion. Treat the chat like a hallway conversation among friends.

Please refrain from posting personal attacks or participating in political discussions.

Keep in mind that there are almost always children viewing and participating in the chat. Please respect the family-friendly nature of our community by keeping your discussions and language appropriate.

If you have a question, ask a moderator, an administrator, or ask another Indie Music Space member. Our community will help you learn the do’s and don’ts of the chat.
By observing these guidelines, we can continue to offer a friendly forum for chatting with other artists.

Site Items You Should Be Aware Of

  1. NOTE: Spammers WILL be BANNED.
  2. Posting a comment on a song will reload the page, as the comment is saved. This will stop the play of music that may be currently playing.
  3. DO NOT include special characters in your song filenames and titles. this will cause issues with the file being able to be properly uploaded.
  4. For further information on IMS, please see our F.A.Q. pages: https://indiemusic.space/forums/forum/faq-creation-area/
