rschlettyLike as the Waves - Sonnet 60

A 2006 collaboration with Jack Miller. He did most of the soundtrack. I added my voice to the mix. Long like Shakespeare!

Sonnets of William Shakespeare

Music by Jack Miller 2006

 Sonnet 60

Em                                           A

Like as the waves make towards the pebbled shore,

Em                                          A

 So do our minutes hasten to their end;

Em                                           A

Each changing place with that which goes before,

Em                                A

In sequent toil all forwards do contend.

Nativity, once in the main of light,

Crawls to maturity, wherewith being crown'd,

Crooked elipses 'gainst his glory fight,

And Time that gave doth now his gift confound.

Em                                     A

Time doth transfix the flourish set on youth

Em                                       A

And delves the parallels in beauty's brow,

Em                                    A

Feeds on the rarities of nature's truth,

Em                                            A

And nothing stands but for his scythe to mow:

    C                G                       Em                     A

And yet to times in hope my verse shall stand,

   C                     G        A                             Em

Praising thy worth, despite his cruel hand.

  1. I meant to write “Long live Shakespeare” 🙁

A reason to allow song description editing.

Thanks for commenting. I actually sang my part back in 2006. The mix was lost due to my rash self-deletion at MacJams in about 2008.
