Coming Back To Life

This was the very first Pink Floyd cover I did. All it done on a Casio anolgue keyboard, as I was totally in the dark about VST and recording. In any event, I first posted this on You tube in 2008 and it recieved 54,000 plays before they took it down. Lesson here for educational purposes is You Tube sucks.

Don’t listen to the man who testifies

Don’t listen to the man, ’cause he’s telling lies

Don’t listen to the man, ’cause he lulls you to sleep

And takes you by surprise

Don’t listen to the man who says he is right

Don’t listen to the man who knows it all

Don’t listen to the man, ’cause he’ll take you down

With him when he falls

Refr: The men in high places, they don’t care

The men in high places, they don’t share

Just listen to your heart and find your own way

Just listen to your heart and trust yourself

Don’t listen to the man who promisses heaven

But leads you to hell

Refr.

Brdg: It’s business as usual (2x)

Gladys the Koala Killer

The recent bushfires in Australia have shocked me. In fact I’ve got PTSD from the sound of screaming Koalas burnt by the fires. I blame the State Premier Gladys amongst others for leading our state into an avoidable catastrophe.
Justice for Koalas!

I took the original post down soon after I realized I’d once again made the fatal mistake of not waiting till my ears stopped ringing before posting… GROAAAAAAN!

Soooooooo… Completely re-did the vocals. Upped the bass in the mix. And played more with the bussing throughout. I do believe the result is a much more coherent and cohesive mix. Judge for yourself.

A bit controversial this piece. SPOILER ALERT: the next one will be even MORE controversial. Then perhaps I can relax for awhile and try merely to entertain. We’ll see…

I wrote this song with my dear friend Swee T. Lim some 7 years ago. This is to cheer him up as he’s going on a journey of recovery! Get well soon Swee!

DEAL WITH THE FLOW

© Swee T. Lim and Stan Loh April 9, 2012

Intro:  G    Em   C   D7

Verse 1

LIFE CAN BE UNKIND

IT’S HARDER ON THE MIND

TO RECALL SOME FACTS AND FACES

FOR WORDS JUST SLIP AWAY

EACH BREATH AND PASSING DAY

HANG ON …

ALL MY FRIENDS FEEL THE SAME

OH AIN’T THAT A SHAME

THIS SITUATION,

IS A LIFE-LONG LESSON

I’D BETTER GET READY

TO DEAL WITH THE FLOW.

Verse 2

THIS BRAIN JUST CAN’T COMPLY

NO MATTER HOW I TRY

FRUSTRATION SURE TO GATHER

SO BEST WE JOKE ABOUT IT

LAUGHTER WORKS LIKE MAGIC,

DON’T QUIT …

BEFORE I MEET CONCLUSION

LEAVE TIME FOR PREPARATION

WITH MOTIVATION

IS A LIFE-LONG LESSON

I’D BETTER GET READY

TO DEAL WITH THE FLOW.

Chorus

DEAL WITH THE FLOW

DEAL WITH THE FLOW

DEAL WITH THE FLOW

DEAL WITH THE FLOW

Repeat Verse 1
